Name Marion Oughton I tell stories because I love doing it and because my audiences and workshop participants love it too. I tell traditional stories from around the world and autobiographical stories, choosing stories with central characters who are women and girls, taking delight in their foibles and strengths.

Since the mid-1980s, I've specialised in storytelling in education, doing both one-off days and long-term residencies. In primary and secondary schools, both special and mainstream, in libraries and health centres, at playschemes and festivals and more, I run participatory workshops for class-sized groups of children and young people - helping them to develop their own storytelling and communication skills - and do storytelling performances for larger groups.

I run workshops and do performances for professionals (eg teachers, librarians, CPNs, play workers), parents and other interested adults. I enjoy working with people with learning difficulties and with elderly people. I also tell stories in sign language.

I am flexible and am open to your ideas and requests. I look forward to hearing from you by email or phone or letter.

Although I have moved away from Birmingham, and am living temporarily near Abergavenny, I am often in the Birmingham area and am still available to work in the midlands.
