Name Dominic Kelly Dominic traces his passion for folk tales and legends back to the rugged beauty of the Cumbrian Mountains where he grew up. This inspiring landscape gave him a particular affinity for stories that connect people to the landscape, to the natural world, and to place.

His background includes many years as a teacher in primary and secondary schools, and as an artist.

He gives storytelling performances in schools, museums, libraries, parks & gardens, and at festivals across the north of England and beyond. Dominic’s repertoire embraces folk tales from England and Ireland, and traditional stories from around the world, alongside Norse, Greek and Celtic myths.

Dominic’s versatile performances are rich in wonder, comedy and suspense. They range from 30-minute interactive sessions for very young children to hour-long performances for older children or adult audiences. Programmes can be adapted for individual venues, and Dominic is also available for commissions - researching and creating new performances for a particular event or place. He offers workshops for all ages from Y1 to adult in storytelling skills and narrative & creativity.

Dominic has close working links with the Northern Centre for Storytelling in Cumbria, with which he collaborates on festivals, conferences, and multi-disciplinary storytelling projects. He also co-ordinates the storytelling programme at Solfest in west Cumbria.
