StoryRoots perform storytelling at many venues for audiences of all ages, though their speciality is working with children aged 3 years through to 12 years. StoryRoots are in demand and equally at home performing at local arts festivals, museums, community events, stately homes and gardens, schools, libraries, play schemes and more… StoryRoots present a dynamic and interactive storytelling style, delighting audiences wherever they go. Working in close partnership, StoryRoots specialise in shared telling of their stories, choreographing the material to present stimulating, interactive and engaging performances that are particularly suited to young audiences.

Dependent on the requirements of the schools and groups, StoryRoots work collaboratively with teachers, carers and children on activities to encourage and nurture the children’s own storytelling skills. Activities include story recall games, dramatising stories, working with story boxes and story trails.

The emphasis of StoryRoots work is firmly placed within the oral tradition of storytelling. The sessions are interactive, inclusive and fun. This is particularly valued for groups where there is potential resistance to the written word!

Complimentary to their work with children, StoryRoots regularly lead a range of storytelling based training workshops for early years and primary teachers designed to promote the teachers skills and confidence to develop a live storytelling ethos in their own settings. Taking Storytelling outdoors is included in this programme and most relevant to current (and hopefully permanent trend) of taking children’s learning outside the boundaries of the classroom!
