| Name | Pete Davis | Pete Davis is a retired firefighter and his performances reflect the down to earth qualities and humour that a career in the fire service has given him. He has been a storyteller, raconteur and writer in Nottingham for more than ten years. In that time he has performed traditional and original stories to audiences in many of Nottingham’s pubs, clubs and theatres. His shows are lively affairs and can move from serious to riotous in a single story and are never short of laughs. He founded The Storytellers of Nottingham eight years ago and this collective of storytellers is still performing to full houses. His one man show “A Nottingham Lad” was a great success in local venues and sold out in the Bonnington Theatre, Nottingham. He has been described by Nottingham City Lights Review as "Bravely forging new, innovative and entertaining approaches to storytelling. His work includes five books the last of which 'Pie Eyed', was commissioned by Notts County Football Club during his year as the writer/storyteller in residence. He is a regular contributor to BBC local radio as the oracle on all things local. Much of his work has been with adults, some with dementia, and has involved story reminiscence sessions that has led to the production of two of his books and one piece of storytelling theatre 'To see the Sea'. Work with young people has involved children on the autistic spectrum and producing with them the story of "Five Dinners Fred". This story was translated into a ceramic artwork and also a play which the children performed at the Worksop Theatre. |
